Mrs. Smith

As a born and raised Hoosier, I graduated from Indiana University where I studied Speech Communications and English. I then spent 12 years as a marketing professional and writer before going back to school in 2006 to earn my MATC (Master of Arts with Teaching Certification). After finishing school and completing my license, I took a few years off to raise my boys. During those years I spent time as a classroom volunteer and substitute teacher. I also created a Writer’s Workshop which I still teach every summer in East Troy. I am so blessed to be a part of St. Joe’s School!

The best part of being a school teacher for me is the endless opportunities I have to bring the creativity skills I honed in my first career into the classroom. I love to make learning as interactive, technology-based and fun as possible. I believe every child can find their voice, and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively is a lifelong skill that will serve each student well throughout their entire lives.

My husband Tom and I moved to East Troy in 2001 where we have spent our days raising our three sons and being super involved in their tireless sports, including coaching soccer and basketball, hosting team parties and volunteering at fundraisers. In my spare time I also enjoy reading, working in my yard, cooking and sewing.
