Catholic Schools Week Dividends for LifeWe celebrated Catholic Schools together January 31- February 5th, 2010

St. Joseph Dividends for Life

This year's theme was "Catholic Schools:Dividends for Life," which highlights our commitment to infuse students with the faith, knowledge, morals and discipline that will help them lead fulfilling lives. Come see how St. Joe's offers dividends for life!

We had an amazing week together celebrating all that a Catholic education and lifelong faith formation in the Catholic Church can and does provide us with "Dividends for Life".

This year's Catholic Schools Week was a roaring success due to the time, talent and treasure of many individuals.  There's still a buzz going around and it's so great to see so many people excited to learn all about what our Parish school has to offer!  Countless hours went into preparing for this week by students, staff and volunteers, which means we have lots of people we need to thank!  We would like to extend our sincere gratitude for the efforts of the parents, parishioners, students, teachers, our principal Sue Shawver, Fr. Dick and local community members that made this week memorable.

A special thanks to the Knights of Columbus (who served the luncheon), Dave Durand, parent volunteers and ambassadors, our wonderful teachers, students and former students who spoke at masses, Christina Kunzi and the Angel Choir who graced us with the gift of song at all 3 masses, Fr. Dick, Diane Moerke,  Karen Biersach, Karen Schuh, Tina Wagner, Librarians, the School Board and the generous donors of gift items for raffle: Anita’s Dance Center in Muskego, Big League Barber Shop, Morningstar Golf Center in Waukesha, Mama Mia’s in Muskego, King’s Wok in Muskego, Piggly Wiggly in Muskego, St. Joseph Athletic’s.

We are continually blessed by the generosity of the families that call St. Joe's home.  Each one's continuous prayers and support help to ensure that we will be able to offer a quality Catholic Education that will provide students that pass though our hallways with dividends for Life.

Sunday January 31- Dividends for Life: In Our Parish and School Family.

9-2pm was our Open House.  Many joined us for 8:30 and 10:30 mass and a tour of our school.  Pot Luck Lunch sponsored by our school families was served from 11:00-12:30. Nationally recognized speaker and St. Joseph Alumni Dave Durand spoke from 12-1:00pm on Catholic Schools Week theme "Dividends for Life." We were honored to have him share his wisdom and passion for our faith and Catholic Schools with us that day. The Scholastic Book Fair was open all day, classrooms were open for tours, Science fair projects and Dividends for Life essays on display, and our amazing basketball teams were in action in the gym during the St. Joe's tournament. We featured door prizes including but not limited to $$ off next year's tuition for new families!  Families had a chance to shop our St. Joe's spirit wear collection and place their order to show some school pride.  It was an amazing day to learn so much more about our parish school, and how you can help be part of the success of our school.

Monday Febraury 1- Dividends for Life: In our Community-

Class buddies decorated and packaged cookies to give to members of our community.  Students wore Spirit Wear shirts.

Our K5 class did "white glove service" at Busy Bee's Cafe in Big Bend for tips.  They worked from 11am-noon and made over $150 in tips.  They then went to the local grocery/ dollar store and purchased canned goods and groceries for the needy with the money they earned.  It was incredible to watch them work.  They welcomed each guest, sat them at their table, took drink orders and delivered drinks and then brought the bill and a mint to each guest.  When through they cleared and wiped down each table.  They treated each guest with love and kindness they learned from Jesus' example.  We are very proud of them!

Tuesday February 2- Dividends for Life: In our Vocations-

Community members were invited to share about their profession.  Students dressed for their future career.

Wednesday Feb 3- Dividends for Life: In our Parish-

To Support our Parish and those that typically help, students helped by cleaning the church.

Thursday Feb 4- Dividends for Life: In our Nation-

Jump Rope and Hoops for Heart day.  Students enjoyed a dress down day.

Friday Feb 5- Dividends for Life: In our World-

All School Mass.  Students made rice bowls with their buddies.  Students got to dress like their favorite team.
